Air Services - Airplane Hangar

The client wanted a custom airplane hanger for storage, maintenance and training. The had an existing lot allocated for construction and required design and customization to suit their operations.

We supplier pre-construction designs for review and approval and then proceeded to supply the custom steel structure. Our services on this project included preliminary designs, site surveying, architectural drawings and General Contracting.

The project included the following

- Excavation and grading
- Site services
- Heavy concrete foundation to accommodate the building, aircraft and crane
- Supply and installation of metal building
- Upper suspended concrete mezzanine
- Metal cladding interior
- 80' wide Schweiss strap style bi-fold door
- JIB crane hoist for serving engines, pontoons, etc.
- Liner panels to 12'
- Hydronic in floor heating in structural concrete including structural trench drain
- Additional unit heaters for fast recover during freezing temperatures
- Lower reception area, mechanical and washrooms
- Upper level offices, training center, kitchen, storage and pilots lounge
- Upper level viewing/classroom to lower hangar area
- Upper level owners quarters with separate mechanic room, comfort controls and exit for privacy
- Large 2' x 6' upper windows for natural light
- New apron for access to taxi way
- Fire proofing for adjacent buildings
- Drainage and landscape base

The final result was a success. There were many ideas and requirements for this building that had to fit the various individuals working and attending such as mechanics, trainers, pilots, owners, staff and students.
